Paris bridges prisoner of the Love locks
The Paris City Hall have replaced sections of mesh fencing glass panels in order to prevent tourists from attaching love padlocks on the iconic footbridge, Le Pont de l'Archeveche, bridge which crosses from Notre-Dame Cathedral to the Left Bank of the river Seine, with shatter-resistant and anti-glare glass panes, Paris the City of Light as the City of Love. Iron grills lining the bridges covered by brass locks purporting to symbolize the unending love of visiting tourists. About 700,000 love locks are added every few months damaging the bridges and threatening safety because of the added weight. The Pont des Arts bridge spanning the Seine river in front of the Louvre, is a lightweight pedestrian bridge, Some of the railings have 500 kilograms of locks by the time the city removes them. The one that collapsed in June weighed 700 kilograms.
