Spain Oil Spill
04/12/2002 Spain Muxia- A volunteer collects oil sludge with his hands on a beach in Muxia in Galicia, northwestern Spain, A Bahamas-registered oil tanker broke in two and sank into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Spain last Nov. 19 spilling around 1.6 million gallons of fuel oil. Hundreds of beaches have been contaminated by the fuel oil so far and the government has banned fishing and shellfish harvesting. PHOTO:ALFRED
