Sadegh Ghotbzadeh was a close confidante of Ayatollah Khomeini during the revolution and was Iranian foreign minister during the Iran hostage crisis, but resigned in 1980. In April 1982, he was arrested along with a group of army officers and clerics, all accused of plotting the assassination of Khomeini. He denied the accusations but under severe torture, he confirmed the existence of a plot to change the government and he was executed by firing squad. Tehran, IRAN - 1982
