Vietnam-Dien Bien Phu, the military cemetery at the eastern end which consists of an altar flanked by two larger-than-life sculptures of Viet Minh fighters. These are carved in a rugged “socialist realism” style and depict assault troops again wearing the distinctive parachute silk capes of the battle.
