Spain Oil Spill
11/2002 Spain Nemina- Spanish volunteer holding a dead dolphin by the fuel oil sludge on a beach in Nemina in Galicia, northwestern Spain, A Bahamas-registered oil tanker broke in two and sank into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Spain last Nov. 19 spilling around 1.6 million gallons of fuel oil. Hundreds of beaches have been contaminated by the fuel oil so far and the government has banned fishing and shellfish harvesting. PHOTO:ALFRED.
