Spain Oil Spill
05/12/2002 Spain Aguino- The hand of Spanish fisherman scoop up oil from a large spill in the Ria de Arousa near Aguino in Galicia, northwestern Spain, more than 16,000 fishermen out of work. Bahamas-registered 'Prestige' oil tanker broke in two and sank into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Spain last Nov. 19 spilling around 6000 tons (1.6 million gallons) of fuel oil. Hundreds of beaches have been contaminated by the fuel oil so far and the government has banned fishing and shellfish harvesting. PHOTO:ALFRED
